Bio: Emily’s freelance reporting on the environment has appeared in Reveal News,  HuffPost, TED Ideas, News Deeply, Men’s Journal, Popular Science, The Guardian and many other outlets. As an associate editor for environmental and wildlife news at Participant Media’s TakePart.com for two years, Emily reported feature stories from Finland, Wyoming and New York City.

 

Emily’s past entrepreneurial journalism ventures include co-founding Bracing for Impact, a half-year climate change reporting project that raised $30,000 on the Beacon Reader crowdfunding platform in 2014. She was also a founding contributor to Worldchanging, an award-winning blog that covered social, technological and environmental innovation and sustainability from 2003 to 2010.

 

Emily has co-authored two books on do-it-yourself environmental monitoring for Maker Media, and contributed to Worldchanging: A User’s Guide for the 21st Century, as well as The Science Writers’ Handbook: How to Pitch, Publish & Prosper in the Digital Age.
